Starting in Madrid, we’ll spend 2 days in Segovia to visit the mountains of Madrid and Segovia. This will give us time to visit the famous mountain passes of Navacerrada and Morcuera. You’ll ride through medieval villages and vineyards. Then from Lerma, we’ll watch the Burgos stages, including the time trial that we can ride in a closed circuit. After the first stage, with an uphill finish in Picon Blanco, we’ll go to Santander to finish by the sea.

Arrival day
Meet with Bike Spain Tours guides at your hotel at 9am to leave for Segovia (1 hour). You must arrive in Madrid the day before, and stay in the many hotels available. We can help organize the extra night, just mention it to us. Once we make it to Segovia, we’ll pedal along a beautiful route through the Lozoya valley, Morcuera mountain pass and end in Pedraza, a spectacular medieval town, where we’ll eat lunch. We’ll go to Segovia after lunch, check-in and take time to settle into the rooms or relax by the pool.
Dinner for this day is included and it will be a good time to meet the rest of the group and the guides who will accompany us during this week of cycling in La Vuelta.

Today we’ll ride past royal palaces, a Unesco heritage site, and go up to Navacerrada, a classic climb in the Vuelta a España and with the option to go up to Bola del Mundo, 3 kms at 15% with exceptional views. Afterwards we’ll take the long descent and we can stop at La Granja to visit its Versailles gardens. We’ll then continue to Segovia to take a tour of the city by bike.

We’ll head directly to the Cathedral in Burgos (2 hours) to do the time trial. In addition, we can visit the city by bike and a nearby winery. After the stage, in which we’ll see all the cyclists and teams up close, we’ll take a van transfer to Lerma and stay at the Duque de Lerma palace.

We’ll leave the hotel with our bikes to visit several medieval towns with lots of charm and history. Covarrubias, Santo Domingo de Silos, Caleruega -where we will see the start of the stage – and Peñaranda de Duero.
After watching the start of the stage, we’ll pedal a little more and have lunch at a winery in Aranda de Duero, with the best wine in Spain, Ribera de Duero. After the delicious meal, we’ll return to the hotel – Parador de Lerma.
Tonight we will have a group dinner at the Parador.

Today we’ll head to the north of Burgos, in the Sierra de Cantabria. We’ll have the first category 1 climb. The north of Burgos has beautiful, quiet roads. We’ll pass through Puenterey, Ojos de guareña, and after Espinosa de los Monteros – the first category climb begins. In the VIP area we can comfortably see this end of the stage that will be very controlled by all the teams, but due to its toughness, it will show which riders want to win the race.
After the stage, we’ll go to the hotel close by with a group dinner at the hotel.

Today, we can either start at the hotel or go to Espinosa to climb the Lunada Mountain and enter Cantabria through the Miera river valley. It’s possible to go ride for 70km and go directly to the sea or to do some common climbs in Vuelta a España, like Alisas and Fuente Varas. At the end of the route, we’ll arrive at Somo Beach, the blue Cantabrian Sea. Afterwards, we’ll take a transfer to the hotel and enjoy the afternoon at the Spa.

After breakfast, you can return to Madrid with the guides or extend your trip in the North of Spain or we can take you to the international airport of Bilbao.

Parador de Segovia
The panoramic views from the hotel’s guest rooms, dining room and outdoor swimming pool are a wonderful treat.

The elegant majesty of this palace from the era of the Hapsburgs and its lovely interiors, with beautifully designed lighting and décor, will make your stay an unforgettable experience.
The amazing ducal palace at Lerma, now a Parador, is located in the upper part of the city. The hotel features a central courtyard surrounded by lovely columned galleries. The Plaza Mayor (Main Square) is opposite the main façade of the palace. At night, the lights of the Parador make it look even more magnificent and stately.
Hotel Balneario de Solares
Castilla Termal Solares Spa, situated in a vast park of centenarian trees, is a historical and emblematic building that was declared the first thermal station of Cantabria at the beginning of the 20th century.
Preserving its classical architectural style, the building hosts the spa hotel complex of 4 stars status, where they have 113 rooms fully equipped, 5 of them are junior suites and 7 are high quality double rooms.
