Overview

On our stunning guided road bike tour of Mallorca, you’ll enjoy challenging climbs and thrilling switchback descents, set against a beautiful mixture of coastal and mountain scenery.

With its superb cycling routes, dramatic coastal landscapes, and enviable Mediterranean climate, Mallorca has long earned its reputation as a true cyclist’s paradise. Each year, both elite professional riders and passionate amateur cyclists flock to the island to train throughout the winter and spring, drawn by its irresistible blend of challenging terrain, breathtaking scenery, and perfectly maintained roads.

Mallorca offers the very best of the Mediterranean in one place: endless sunshine, crystal-clear turquoise waters, golden beaches, and charming villages steeped in history. But what makes the island truly exceptional for cyclists is the magnificent Serra de Tramuntana mountain range — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its rugged peaks, dramatic cliffside roads, and iconic climbs (including the legendary Sa Calobra with its thrilling switchbacks) provide some of the most unforgettable cycling experiences in Europe.

From serene coastal routes to exhilarating mountain ascents, from quiet rural lanes through olive groves and citrus orchards to sweeping panoramic viewpoints over the sea, Mallorca offers variety, beauty, and challenge in equal measure. Combine this with world-class gastronomy, superb boutique hotels, and a vibrant Balearic culture, and it’s easy to understand why so many consider Mallorca an unmissable destination for a premium cycling holiday.

Highlights

  • The beautiful, turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea
  • Smooth and well-maintained roads, ideal for road biking
  • Tackling the island’s most well-known and challenging climb, Sa Calobra
  • Cycling out to the unforgettable Cap de Formentor

Itinerary

Day 1: Port Pollença
Arrival day
Route: 36.6km/22.7 miles
Elevation: +267m/+877 ft
Accommodation: Hotel Hoposa Uyal

Welcome to your road bike tour of Mallorca!

Your Bike Spain Tours guides will meet you in Palma de Mallorca and transfer you to a beautiful family-owned vineyard in the heart of the island, where you’ll enjoy a tasting of Mallorca’s elegant local wines — increasingly celebrated on the international stage. The estate is nestled among rolling countryside and vineyard-covered hills, offering a serene and breathtaking introduction to the island.

In the afternoon, you’ll have the chance to experience the surrounding landscapes up close on a leisurely warm-up ride. We’ll cycle through quiet rural lanes bordered by almond groves, fig trees, and traditional stone fincas. The ride is gentle, with peaceful roads and stunning views — the perfect way to ease into the week and get acquainted with your bike.

After your ride, a private transfer will take you to Hotel Hoposa Uyal located on the elegant seafront promenade of Port de Pollença. This stylish coastal retreat offers the ideal setting to unwind: take a stroll along the beach, dip your feet in the Mediterranean, or relax with a drink as the sun sets over the bay.

Day 2: Port Pollença – Cap Formentor
Route: 62.2km/38.6 miles
Elevation: +1291m/+4237 ft
Accommodation: Hotel Hoposa Uyal

Today begins with a visit to the historic town of Pollença, famous for its 365-step Calvari stairway. Those who wish may climb to the top, where a small chapel and sweeping views over the town and surrounding mountains offer a rewarding start to the day.

Next, we’ll cycle one of Mallorca’s most iconic routes: the breathtaking peninsula of Cap de Formentor. As we ascend, the scenery becomes truly spectacular — dramatic cliffs plunge into crystal-clear turquoise waters, pine forests cling to the hillside, and panoramic viewpoints invite us to pause and savour the moment. This is coastal cycling at its finest.

After taking time to fully enjoy the views, we’ll make our way around the bay to the beautifully preserved fortified town of Alcúdia. Here, you’ll have time to wander the medieval walls, explore its historic centre, and soak up the charm of this ancient port town before returning to the hotel.

Day 3: Port Pollensa
Route: 92.8 km/57.7 miles
Elevation: +763m/+2503 ft
Accommodation: Hotel Hoposa Uyal

This morning, we’ll begin our ride by heading towards the Bay of Alcúdia, a stunning coastal area where the route traces the shoreline and offers ever-changing views of turquoise waters, golden beaches, and serene Mediterranean landscapes.

From here, we’ll head inland towards the historic town of Petra, a peaceful village in the heart of the island, set within the rural Pla de Mallorca region. Far from the busy tourist spots, Petra offers a genuine glimpse into traditional Mallorcan life — rustic stone houses, quiet squares, and a slower, more authentic rhythm.

We then continue our route through a series of lovely inland towns — Sineu, Inca, Selva, and Moscari — each with its own unique charm and cultural heritage. As we ride through these timeless villages, you’ll experience the essence of Mallorca’s interior: fertile farmland, vineyards, centuries-old churches, weekly markets, and small cafés where locals gather to catch up over a coffee or a glass of wine. This is an opportunity to connect with the island’s cultural heart and discover the Mallorca that locals cherish.

Day 4: Port Soller
Route: 46 km/28.6 miles
Elevation: +1085m/+3561 ft
Accommodation: Gran Hotel Soller

Today marks the beginning of the pure climbing stages, and the highlight of your road bike tour of Mallorca. Our route takes us into the dramatic heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, where soaring limestone peaks, deep valleys, and winding mountain roads create an unforgettable playground for cyclists.

We’ll tackle one of the world’s most iconic cycling routes: Sa Calobra. Sculpted into the mountainside like a ribbon of grey tarmac, this extraordinary road coils and twists through a rocky, moon-like landscape before dropping down towards the shimmering turquoise waters below. The engineering is nothing short of remarkable — a masterpiece of switchbacks and sheer cliffside riding that attracts cyclists from around the globe.

From the top, experience the thrill of an exhilarating 10 km descent down to the bay of Sa Calobra, with over ten spectacular 180º hairpin bends and its famous 360º spiral — the Nus de Sa Corbata (“the Necktie Knot”) — where the road loops under itself in a breathtaking feat of design. At the bottom, the reward awaits: a moment to rest and take in the crystal-clear waters of this dramatic cove, surrounded by towering cliffs.

After conquering Sa Calobra, the challenge continues with the ascent to Lluc, followed by the climb toward Puig Major and its serene mountain lakes — an epic sequence of climbs that defines Mallorca as a superlative cycling paradise.

At the end of this unforgettable day, we will transfer to Port de Sóller, where you’ll unwind at the elegant Gran Hotel Sóller, a luxurious 5-star retreat. Relax in refined surroundings, take a dip in the pool, or toast the day’s achievements with a well-deserved drink as the sun sets over the Tramuntana.

Day 5: Port de Soller
Route: 42.7 km/26.5 miles
Elevation: +886m/+2098 ft
Accommodation: Gran Hotel Soller

This morning, we’ll set off along one of Mallorca’s most enchanting coastal routes, cycling towards the charming village of Deià. Nestled in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, between Valldemossa and Sóller, Deià has long captivated writers, artists, and musicians with its serene beauty. Stone houses framed by terraced olive groves, breathtaking sea views, and an atmosphere of pure tranquillity make this village feel nothing short of magical.

From Deià, we’ll continue our scenic ride to the elegant town of Valldemossa, our final cycling stop of the day. Surrounded by lush mountain landscapes, Valldemossa is steeped in history and charm — a place of narrow cobbled streets, blooming flower-filled balconies, and the famous Royal Carthusian Monastery that once inspired Frédéric Chopin. It’s a perfect setting to pause, wander, and soak in the timeless Mallorcan ambiance before heading back to the coast.

Day 6: Palma de Mallorca
Route: 64.7 km/40.2 miles
Elevation: +1358m/+4455 ft
Accommodation: Nakar Hotel

After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we’ll begin our final ride with a gentle warm-up back through Valldemossa, before continuing on towards the picturesque village of Esporles.

From here, we can choose between two beautiful routes to reach Palma: the inland route, winding through quiet rural landscapes and charming Mallorcan villages, or the coastal route, offering spectacular sea views as we ride towards the elegant port town of Port d’Andratx. After finishing our final ride, we’ll travel to Palma de Mallorca in our private van.

In Palma de Mallorca, you’ll check in to one of the city’s most luxurious hotels, featuring refined rooms and a stunning seafront pool — the perfect place to relax and refresh after an unforgettable week of cycling. The afternoon is free to explore the island’s vibrant capital.

Palma offers an exceptional blend of culture, history, and Mediterranean charm. Elegant boulevards, boutiques, and narrow medieval streets sit alongside fishing boats, pine-lined parks, and palm-shaded squares, creating a truly captivating ambiance.

This evening, you can indulge in Palma’s culinary scene, with its excellent restaurants serving both modern Mediterranean cuisine and beloved local dishes such as sobrasada, arròs brut, and tumbet.
