Itinerary

Day 1: Annecy

Sunday, July 15th 2018

Welcome to France!

Today,we will meet you at the train station or the airport of Geneva in Switzerland. We organize the transfer to the hotel in Annecy (50 minutes) to check in, take the time to settle in the rooms and rest. We will also fit the bikes.

Annecy, capital of Haute-Savoie, is an artistic city that shows a sensational architectural homogeneity. The walk around Old Annecy is truly fascinating. The captivating canals, the flowery banks, the beautiful little bridges and the beautiful houses with colorful facades are enough reason for Annecy to receive the name of the Venice of Savoy.

Today’s dinner is included and will be a good time to meet the rest of the group and the guides that will accompany you throughout this week of cycling in the Tour de France.

Day 2: Annecy

Monday, July 16th 2018

Today is the rest day for the riders of the Tour de France. We will take the opportunity to see the Movistar team training and riding with them in the Annecy area.

Riding with the professionals is a very special experience that will allow you to see the riders, talk to them and of course follow their wheel.

Dinner is on your own tonight.

Day 3: Annecy

Tuesday, July 17th 2018

This morning, we started our route around the lake of Annecy. Of glacial origin, it offers a wonderful purity. It is indeed famous for being one of the cleanest lakes in the world. For the great pleasure of cyclists, it is equipped with a greenway all around.

We will attend the exit of the tenth stage. Today, the ascent of the Col de la Croix Fry will come just before a technical test in the direction of the Plateau des Glières using a road of 2 km … without asphalt! The cyclists will have to make a double terrifying with the climbs of the Col de Romme and the Colombière.

Dinner is on your own tonight.

Day 4: Grenoble

Wednesday, July 18th 2018

The stage of today alternates between long and shorter mountains stages offering the equivalent of races of average distance to the climbers. The intensity will be high when cyclists will discover the climb up to the Col du Pré before reaching the Cormet de Roselend … and then take the 18-kilometer ascent to the resort of La Rosière. After the end of the stage, we have a transfer to Grenoble, our next destination.

We’ll dine together at the hotel tonight.

Day 5: Grenoble

Thursday, July 19th 2018

This morning we will ride towards the Croix de Fer (2067m) and Alpe d’Huez (1838m). Just to say the name of the Croix de Fer, we have to remember the many times, that the Tour de France has passed through its summit.

We will then go up from Bourg d’Oisans to Alpe d’Huez, just before the professional cyclists. We will attend the arrival of the teams before returning to the hotel by van.

We’ll dine together at the hotel tonight.

Day 6: Bedoin (Avignon)

Friday, July 20th 2018

Today we will see the final of the stage in Valence, from where we begin the transfer to our last cit, Bedoin, in Provence.

Provence is very famous for its hills, lavender fields and vineyards. However it does not correspond to any administrative frontier, but simply represents a certain “vision of France”, with sun, pines, cypresses and its own lifestyle.

Dinner is on your own tonight.

Day 7: Bedoin (Avignon)

Saturday, July 21st 2018

Today is a great day! We will try the Mont Ventoux ascent. Mont Ventoux has become one of the mythical climbs of the Tour de France. This mountain of 1,912 meters above the sea level became famous, in addition to its history in cycling, for its peak “stripped” in which there is no vegetation and remind about lunar landscapes due to the strong wind blowing on its summit.

It is one of the most demanding climbs of the Tour de France. A drop of 1,376 meters, a length of 15.7 kilometers and an average slope of 8.8%, hence a port Hors Categorie.

Tonight we will dine together in a local restaurant.

Day 8: Bedoin (Avignon)

Sunday, July 22nd 2018

After breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye to this year’s Tour de France. The guides will take in charge the transfer to the train station of Avignon before continuing with the third and last week of the Tour in the Pyrenees!

If you have any questions or requests, your guides will be at your disposal to assist you and to wish you a pleasant return trip.

Would you like to stay longer in France? We are more than willing to organize your stay!
