Overview

In many ways a nation unto itself – proud, independent and rich with heritage – Catalonia is the land of Picasso, Dalí and Gaudí, who clearly drew inspiration from the strong culture and stunning surroundings that define this landscape: from the towering Pyrenees to volcanic flats, rolling pastoral hills and rugged Costa Brava.

Each day of biking in this region offers a medley of dramatic vistas, sparkling coastlines and rolling plains. Spin through charming medieval villages, stop to visit an artisinal pottery workshop in La Bisbal, visit exclusive boutique wineries and sample some of the best cuisine the area has to offer. At the the confluence of Spanish and French culinary traditions, the Costa Brava is home to some of the most renowned cuisine in the world.

Day 1: June 14th

Free day in Barcelona, enjoy the hotel and a nice dinner in the city center.

Day 2: June 15th

Route: 23 – 43 km
Accommodation: Mas  Falgarona

Meet with Bike Spain guide in Barcelona Hotel at 9,30am and transfer of 1 hour to the Mas Falgarona Hotel.

On the way, we can stop for a short visit of the city of Girona. In the hotel, complete a bike fitting and start your bike ride or enjoy a free afternoon and finish with dinner at the hotel (booking made for 20:30pm – 4pax).

ROUTE:

Day 3: June 16th
Route: 30 – 40 km
Accommodation: Mas Falgarona

This morning’s ride will take you toward the coastal region of Cadaques. The tranquility of the rolling fields and coast attracts city folk from Barcelona when they are ready to escape to the countryside. This area is gaining a great reputation for its hearty red wines and we will pass some notable wineries along the way.

Day 4: June 17th
Route: 52 km
Accommodation: Mas de Torrent

Today is full of activities so the bike route will be shorter. Leaving the area of the Alt Emporda we make our way down towards the southern part of the province, the Baix Emporda or Lower Emporda. Our bike ride will start after the transfer to Fontclara farm where will visit the olive oil factory passing through rolling, bucolic terrain surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The visit is nice and interesting. Starting the bike route we pass through many charming, small towns, stopping along the way for a visit to the CASTILLO GALA DALI 13.15pm and hearty local lunch before arriving on the luxurious grounds of our 5-star lodgings for the next 2 nights, Mas de Torrent.

After the lunch, we propose a ceramic experience in Bisbal with GALIMONT

The dinner can be enjoyed at the espectacular terrace of the hotel’s restaurant.

ROUTE:

Day 5: June 18th
Route: 40 – 50km
Accommodation: Mas de Torrent

Today our ride takes us into the cultural heartland of Catalonia to discover some of the charming medieval villages that pepper the lands between Girona and the coast. We’ll spin through La Bisbal and Madremanya as well as Pubol, where you can visit Castell Gala-Dali, the castle Dali bought just for his wife Gala to live in.

Towards the end of the ride we arrive in the town of Ullastret for a well-deserved lunch on the charming terrace of the excellent Iberic restaurant. Depending on how you feel after lunch, you can opt to return to the hotel to relax by the pool or in the spa or to visit some exceptional ceramics workshops in the town of Bisbal.

After lunch we go to visit a winery close to the hotel MAS OLLER

At night, transfer to the Michelin restaurant Casamar at 21:00pm (booking made for 4pax).

ROUTE:

Day 6: June 19th
Route: approx 30 km
Accommodation: Parador de Aiguablava

Today we’ll start with a spin through the town of La Bisbal before beginning a climb to la Col de la Ganga. Then it’s time to relax and revel in an exhilarating cruise downhill towards the fishing town of Palamos. After arriving at the seafront we make our way towards a private wine estate for a hands-on cooking class before sitting down to enjoy the fruits of our labour and the stunning views from the beautiful terrace of the estate.

Afterwards you can take a dip in the pool on the estate or make your way back to our final hotel, the impresive modern building hanging between pine trees and elevated over the clifts with magnificient views of the coast. The Parador is a moder art museum by inside as well. Peacefull and relaxing place to end our tour.

Day 7: June 20th – Departure

A transfer will be arrranged in order to drop you off at Barcelona city at 9,00am to be in Barcelona at 11am.

When looking for refreshment you are able to take a dip in the swimming pool, but taking a 15 minute walk to a nearby and unspoiled little beach is a great option as well.
